alive raw

Hi there... I'm new to this forum and would love to get feedback from others. I have been raw on/off for a year or so. During the day I have absolutely no problem staying raw and usually start my day with a green smoothy or green juice, supplement with fruit through the morning as needed, enjoy a big green salad at lunch, usually spinach with sprouts and avocado and in the afternoon snack on veggies...

But it's the evenings that are the worst.. I get home with the stresses of the day in my pocket doesn't help... so I'm trying to lesson those... but I never know what to have in the evening, I tend to want something more substantial, hot, traditional, it just doesn't seem right to have another smoothy or green salad, nor does it feel substantial enough (likely more from a psychological perspective)... I'm finding getting my head around transitioning to raw in the evening really challenging... what do I eat, how do I keep it simple, yet incorporate some variety (or is that really necessary)......mind you if I'm out with friends I'll just have something cooked and follow food combining principles... and to do that once a week is not an issue... but it's the rest of the time when I'm at home....

Any insights, suggestions, expriences would be welcome.... I suspect it's the "letting go of traditional SAD habits" that I'm dealing with, but none the less I'm struggling with making the transition complete...

thanks in advance
Trine

Hi, I'm new to this site too (I just got on tonight). I've also been on and off raw for over three years! I keep trying though. I have many challenges, and try to learn from my past mistakes and sucess. I live with cooked food all around me, it's always tempting me. Victoria Beutanko (spelling) says it takes 2 months for the protective mucus to leave your body after you start eating raw, then you will crave less. I'm hoping for that to happen quickly! Good luck. karen

I've been 100% raw for almost two years now. I was high-raw and struggling for 6 months prior to going 100%. What helped me to beat the evening struggles was to stick with fruit all throughout the day and save my salad for evening. Like you, I was eating a salad at lunch. That almost always set me up to fall for the cooked cravings in the evenings.

Now I have a smoothie for breakfast and another smoothie and/or fruit for lunch. Dinner is a LARGE salad and a raw soup or other raw dish. Sometimes I may have some fruit with my dinner as well, but usually not.

Getting the extra fruit calories during the day really curbed the cravings for me and made my transition a whole lot easier. Good luck!

Have you seen anything in some of the books out there that you can try? I like Ani Pylo books ( I probably spelled her name wrong since my books are downstairs). She has a dessert book that looks interesting.
I am new here and hope to learn and be encourage by what others are doing.....
