Are you on LinkedIn and Facebook?

I would like to connect with you there also. I am trying to make more connections and fans so that I can spread awareness for breast cancer during pregnancy. I was diagnosed Stage 3 in the 5th month of my pregnancy in May. My status updates on LinkedIn and Facebook are usually about my fight or social networking tips.

Hi Rory- Welcome!
Invest in a good juicer- it has made an amazing difference in my health. Green juices are the best- adding a lemon, a piece of ginger and 1-2 pkg of stevia really cuts the taste of the greens. I sometimes add a green apple and a grapefruit to my green drinks- they are low in sugar and gives it a nice tart but sweet taste.
Best of luck to you.

Hi Rory - The raw, living foods lifestyle is what healed my Crohns and colitis. As per others's comments, a major component of this lifestyle involves eating raw, living vegetables and juices, with an emphasis on greens. However, most veggies have minimal nutrition, as they lose about half of their nutrition within half an hour of being picked. And the soil in which they are grown is largely depleted of minerals. So, it is important to eat and juice as many sprouts as possible, as they are still live and have 10 or more times the nutrition as the underlying vegetable, grain or nut. Sprouts are essentially pre-digested, with loads of enzymes, making it much easier to digest them and absorb their nutrients. Nuts and seeds should ideally be soaked in water for about 8 hours (e.g. - overnight) to remove enzyme inhibitors and molds and make them more digestible. Seaweed (dulse and other "sea vegetables") is full af minerals and also full of fiber, making it a very valuable part of a living food diet. The addition of superfoods such as spirulina and bee pollen, which can be added to your food or juices, is also a good idea. If you are losing weight and/or things are irritating you intestines, having a little more avocado might help. With this and all recommendations, it is important to listen to your body. If you have bad diarrhea and/or anything makes your condition worse, back off and then try again more gradually or try something else. Turmeric, which can be out on your food and in your juices or taken in capsule form, is anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, etc. and should help. The same is true of garlic - if you cannot eat a lot of raw garlic, consider Kyolic garlic capsules (no smell). Ginger aids digestion. Etc., etc. There are lots of good books and websites available on raw living foods. One thing that most of them won't mention is wheatgrass enemas. Wheatgrass, as mentioned by others, is great to drink. It must be drunk fresh within 10 or 15 minutes of juicing. And, it is advisable to start with one once at a time, twice a day, as it is very potent. It is also very helpful to more directly address the issue by doing water enemas with a wheatgrss "chaser". In otherwords, do a regular enema, with filtered water, and follow it by putting 4 ounces of wheatgrass in the enema bag and holding that in the rectum for as long as you can - ideally 15 or 20 minutes. The wheatgrass will help cleanse and rebuild your colon extremely quickly and effectively. It is that, more than anything, that helped me repair the tear in my colon so quickly and avoid surgery and drugs. Exercise and emotional health are also important factors in regards to digestion and elimination. Best wishes, Nancy

Hi Rory,
The standard Hippocrates green juice (with lots of sunflower and pea sprouts), wheatgrass, and E3Live (in liquid) are top three on my list. Leafy greens are next (kale, collard greens ... etc), but anything you eat you will have to chew like heck ! The rest you will have to experiment what will NOT cause a reaction.

Hi Rory,
I haven't had enough personal experience with this problem to give you an answer based of wisdom, and there is conflicting information about how to best deal with this problem. Since the problem is created in the first place by food lacking in both fiber and nutrients it seems it cannot be reversed by simply doing the opposite, al least not in the beginning. What I do know is you could get benefit from soluble fiber, (insoluble fiber is a problem at first), and green juicing is in my opinion essential, as is wheatgrass juice. The clients I have met with similar problems all had one thing in common - they were always in a rush and ate fast and chewed very little. Now you should eat slow and chew a min. of 30 times, and the more the better. Drink your food so to speak, and do the opposite when taking green juices; keep it in your mouth and chew it before swallowing it. Enzymes and probiotics I also recommend. Brian Clement recommends raw for healing, and I agree, but some people are irritated by this, and a very light steaming of vegetables could help alleviate the trigger effect of some foods. Hope this helps.

Antonio.
