How Do You Determine if Fruits are Beneficial or Not?

How Do You Determine if Fruits are Beneficial or Not?
When we look at fruits in Hippocrates’ eyes, we look at sugar versus non-sugar. There are foods that are biologically or botanically fruits. As an example, a red pepper is botanically a fruit, but literally has so little sugar content and digests so much like a vegetable that it can be easily and readily eaten as a vegetable. Whereas an orange has a very high sugar content. It rushes through the body very rapidly, so it could not be eaten as a vegetable. Cucumber is a very good cohabitant with vegetables, but it isn’t a good cohabitant with the mango because they don’t speed through the body with the same speed and they don’t utilize the same enzymatic activity to break them down.

Just an example of how fruits can compromise the immune system. I have been mainly raw for over 5 yrs. and I planted strawberries last year. Well, it's end of June and they were looking pretty darn good all bright red and juicy looking. I ate a few and it went down ok. 4 days later there were a lot more so .... I ate about 30 of them, and the next day a cold sore popped out on my bottom lip. It sucks, but that's the reality. The questions to ask at this point are 1) Am I reacting because I am clean and have become sensitive to fruits ? 2) Am I reacting because I am full of yeast and fungus and the fruits are an aggrivation ? 3) Am I reacting because my immune system is still rebuilding itself, and the fact that it is reacting it fruit is already a bad sign ?
Comments are welcome.

I have heard all about fruits and maybe it is right but in my body 3-4 fruits a day work very well I have no problem. When I don’t eat fruits I think that something is missing. I am in the raw eating path about 5 years. I have done 3 times colon cleansing so far maybe that’s why I don’t have problems with yeast .

I love fruits and couldn't imagine life without them, but I am at a point in my life where I must limit my consumption of them. I've been on the raw diet now for 5 months and have lost 50 lbs that I really needed to lose. I was prediabetic and on my way to developing type 2 diabetes. I am also a 6 year cancer survivor of breast and thyroid cancer. I limit myself now to having some fruit once a week in the morning as part of breakfast and even then I only have ONE of the following: a half grapefruit OR a quarter to a half cup of berries, OR a quarter to a half cup of pomegranate, or a wedge of cantaloupe or honeydew melon. That's it for me for the rest of the day and rest of the week. My blood sugar is down to normal and I'm keeping it stabilized. I also have to watch because sugar FEEDS cancer cells. I am hoping to kill off any cancer cells and free radicals in my system with my raw diet, so that any little bit of sugar from the small amount of fruit I consume won't be feeding any cancer cells if there aren't any cells to feed.
Antonio, I think you overdid it by eating 30 berries all at once. Limit yourself to just a couple of berries a day. I've learned that moderation and portion control is the key. Anything in excess is not good for you, not only fruit.

Three years ago i developed a patch of baldness on my head, no doctor could explain its cause nor could the numerous specialists i visited help me. I was subjected to many creams, pills and injections, all with no result.

This caused me anguish and as a result, started to do my own research on my health by reading books and speaking to healthy people. In 2007 i radically changed my diet to include 95% fresh unprocessed foods and 95% pure fresh water. (with the odd treat now and again).

Fruit was, and still is a large part of my diet. I found it cleansing and energising. I felt fantastic. However, i still had some extra weight around my waist which i could not shed. I stumbled upon some information on Alkaline / acid balance in the body and it turns out that all the extra suger in fruit, converts to acid in the body during the natural metabolism process, making the body more acid than alkaline. (The same reason suger burns holes in teeth. Its not the suger, but the residue left when it breaks down.)

This can, in extreme cases, lead to all sorts of problems in the body.

By taking this new information on board, i have reduced my sugerry fruits and increased my green vegetables. The extra weight i had simply melted off and my hair has started growing back.

There is more to this acid alkaline balance than i can post here, i just wanted all our readers who are unaware of this new science to become aware. There is heaps of information on this subject, in particular i like Anthony Robbins health seminar. (i dont know if i can mention names) but he explains it very well.

Also if you go to: http://special505.alkadiet.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=ALKALINE

you can download a free acid/alkaline balance chart. i used a secondary email address because i was worried about spam mail.

It shows that many fruits cause acid and most vegetables increase alkalinity. Dont take my word for it but if you try it, im sure you anybody would feel the difference.

With love.

Another great post. People need more information on this. I just tried a fresh Tamarind (low-sugar fruit) for the first time. It was pretty tasty. I am fortunate to have Noni growing here. You can eat it and use it on your skin too.

So you are saying, fruits turn to acid in the body? I thought fruit was alkaline.
