WHAT IS TAT?

Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT) founded by Tapas Fleming, is an easy mind body process for ending emotional traumatic stress, physical symptoms, and freeing yourself of negative faulty beliefs. TAT is a new, simple and effective technique that delivers profound emotional relief, inner peace, relaxation, and more vibrant health and empowerment in minutes. After experiencing TAT for a period of time in a comprehensive manner, people may experience the following long term benefits: a general feeling of lightness to one's problems, an inner confidence that whatever comes up can be easily resolved, an enhanced ability to create a healthy separation from other people's reactions toward us , dissipation of pent up anger and rage, profound relief from depression, sadness, stress, anxiety and guilt, greater faith (emunah) and trust (bitachon), self-confidence, a greater feeling of self-worth, a stronger sense of identity, more appropriate choices and better relationships with others, being better able to let go and forgive oneself and other people's misgivings, the ability to experience compassion and understanding toward oneself and others, realizing one's gifts, purpose and life mission, and an authentic joy and enthusiasm for life.

TAT works deeply at the level of unconscious, clearing one's issues from the roots. It is not necessary for one to be highly focused on their TAT statements in order for TAT to work effectively. It combines lightly holding a few acupressure points on your head (the TAT pose) as you put your attention on a problem (the Steps of TAT). The TAT position on the face corresponds to the point where all 14 meridian points channel out of, and it turns out to be almost identical to the way Jewish Sephardim position their hands to say the daily famous Shema declaration. The back hand position of TAT is visually connected to our childhood memories, and it is also the spot where the Tefillin box is knotted. The TAT positioning was not "consciously" chosen for these spiritual connections (Shema and Tefillin) but nevertheless, they seem to be intimately connected.





HOW TO DO THE TAT POSE

With one hand, lightly touch the tip of your thumb to the area 1/8-inch above the inner corner of your eye. With the fourth finger (ring finger), lightly touch the tip of your finger to the area 1/8-inch above the inner corner of your other eye. Place the tip of your third or middle finger at the point midway between and about ½ an inch above the eyebrow level. Now place your other hand on the back of your head, with the palm side touching your head so that your thumb is resting at the base of the skull just above the hairline. The palm cradles the base of your skull.

If you are holding your hands in the TAT pose on someone else, the same area at the base of the skull is covered; however your little finger will be just above the hairline. Both hands should be resting gently. No pressure is necessary.

For children age 11 and under, the hand in front is placed over the forehead, covering the top half of the eyes. For babies, very sick people or anyone who is unable to touch for any reason, the pose is done by holding the hands in the same position as for children, only the hands are an inch or two away from the person's head. TAT can be both self-administered and performed by a Certified TAT Professional. It is most commonly performed on oneself.

Each step generally lasts until you feel done but generally up to a minute. The first step may be up to 4 minutes but more typically 1-2 minutes. Feeling done can be indicated by a shift – a feeling that you're done with the statement which can be expressed in any number of ways: a sigh or a breath, yawning, a sense of not being engaged with the problem anymore, your attention wandering to an unrelated or distracted thought, experiencing an energy release through a marked lightness or heaviness, feeling bored or restless, feeling like the words do not want to be said anymore, mixing up the words, mumbling, coughing, clearing one's throat, itching, feeling a pain, shifting your body around or moving, laughing, a change in perception, feeling relaxed or lighter, or a feeling of being done. For children, this may happen in a few seconds.

Very rarely, your feelings may get stronger when you do TAT as repressed emotions are coming up to consciousness. If this happens, stay in the TAT pose and put your attention back on what you were doing in that step. It is not necessary to put your attention on getting more and more into the feelings unless you feel a strong need to do that. In any case, by simply staying with the statement and pose, your strong feelings usually turn to peace in about a minute or two. If you don't feel any relief from these strong feelings after about a minute or two, ask the advice of what to do from a Certified TAT mental health professional.

You can rest your arms at any time you want—during a step and or in between steps. Your eyes can be open or closed. You can use either hand in front. It is okay to switch hands in the middle.

It has been recommended by Tapas, to keep your TAT work to a maximum of 20 minutes per day in the actual TAT pose. It's true that some people have successfully experienced being in the TAT pose up to 40 minutes in a given day. As a certified TAT Professional, I have been able to easily do TAT in session with others for extended periods of time. If you are doing TAT on your own at home, it is suggested that you keep the time limitation as recommended by Tapas. Fortunately, there is no limit as to how long one can do the EFT tapping on a given day so you may continue working with other protocols that don't impose a time limit. TAT taps into the bio-electrical system, so it is highly suggested to drink 6-8 glasses of water on the days you do TAT or any other Energy Therapy. Drinking pure water greatly contributes to the healing effects of the TAT treatment.

Do the TAT Pose and put your attention on each of the following groups for about 30 seconds to one minute. Repeat this process whenever you want.

First Group:
TAT is too easy and can’t possibly work for me

TAT is easy and could be of great value.
Its possible TAT will work for me.
I choose to live and be happy.
I accept love, help, and healing.



VERY FIRST TAT TREATMENT

STEP 1. I do not deserve to live and I cannot accept love, help and healing. (Alternative: It's true that this healing cannot quickly and permanently heal me of my strong negative beliefs /problems/ condition/ my lifetime traumas.

STEP 2. I do deserve to live and I can accept love, help and healing. (Alternative: Its NOT true that this healing cannot quickly and permanently heal me of my strong negative beliefs/ problems / condition / my lifetime traumas.

STEP 3. Thank you G-D/ Hashem for healing all the places in my mind, body and life where these beliefs/traumas have been stuck /stored/ held.

In the 6 forgiveness statement below, you may want to include the name of the person/people you are having a problem with. If doing statement 6 or 7 is feeling especially difficult for a particular TAT you are doing, it is recommended that you discuss this with a TAT Professional.

ANCESTOR'S 9 STEP TAT PROTOCOL
Decide on the trauma, feeling, belief, ailment, or issue you would like to have healed. We'll refer to the trauma as "THIS" in the TAT steps.

Say the following statement before and / or after doing the 9 TAT steps:

"I make the Intention that the healing I am about to do /did is for the benefit of all my ancestors, my family and everyone involved, all my incarnations/gilgulim, all future generations, all the points of view I have ever held, and all the parts that got something out of this."


Do the TAT Pose and put your attention on each of the Steps of TAT. The word "THIS" includes all the many points of the issue you are working on. Keep the many points of the issue in mind as you say "THIS." Using the word "THIS" can be very useful for topics you prefer to keep private in front of your TAT Professional.

(Step 1 is the problem statement you are attempting to clear)

(It is helpful to give thanks after doing this profoundly effective healing. Your hands will move into three different positions for 20 seconds or about 7 times or when if it feels done: Position 1: the normal TAT pose, Position 2: the TAT pose switching hands, Position 3: Cupped hands surrounding the back of the ears which in effect brings the ears slightly forward.

ie: divine love .


Finish by cupping ears and say:

Telling your Story with TAT
TO HEAL A RELATIONSHIP WITH SOMEONE OR A PART OF YOURSELF.

If you feel you have unfinished business with someone or with a part of yourself such as someone you are angry with, or a part of yourself that is angry or ashamed with something you did, someone who you think is unforgiving with you, someone you feel abandoned by, betrayed, misunderstood, unheard, offended by, unloved or visa versa, a pain or condition in your body, unresolved feelings with GD or whatever you choose to call GD – whether they are here in this world or passed on to the next world, – hold the TAT pose and have a conversation with them/ yourself (silently, softly, or out loud) until you feel done. If it's relevant in this particular situation, ask for forgiveness and grant forgiveness.




An important word on forgiveness:


It's true that when we sincerely forgive a wrongdoing, there are many positive spiritual benefits for all parties involved. When we forgive someone whose actions toward us were hurtful, unacceptable or traumatic, we are essentially forgiving them for the sake of our own healing. According to sound spiritual principles and quantum physics, bringing light to a situation heals both parties, giving all people involved an opportunity to heal. Letting go of what someone did to us or to a loved one creates a healthy separation from what happened. Forgiving someone frees us of our attachment to them. Firmly holding onto the pain only creates an ill effect in our own mind and body system. Forgiving someone does not mean that we condone the other person's behavior toward us. Forgiving someone does not mean that we have to reconcile with them. It means that although we may be having a hard time accepting what they did, we are willing to let go of their psychic hold over us, and disconnect from the problem. An unforgiving state holds the memory close to our heart and mind. The only party who is truly hurting by holding onto any righteous anger and resentment, is us! Allowing ourselves to let go of someone who behaved inappropriately does not make their actions right… it simply affords us the ability to heal and care for ourselves. True healing creates a new perspective and allows the channels of love, light, inner peace and joy to freely flow.

Telling your story with EFT
THE EFT PROTOCOL IS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST


Tell your story aloud while tapping on the specified meridian points. Keep tapping and moving around to the different points while telling your story. Tapping in a particular order is not necessary here. When you come to a part of the story that feels emotionally charged, immediately stop and do the EFT Statement and Tapping Procedure on that particular issue. Be open to any aspects that pop up and clear them. Check internally whether the intensity of the issue you just tapped about softened, and then continue your story until the next time you need to do another EFT Procedure. Using the 1-10 SUDS scale will help you to work on bringing the emotional charge down to 0 or close to it. Always be open to aspects or another take on the issue that may make itself known to your consciousness, and be intent on clearing it.

THE BUTTERFLY HUG

The Butterfly Hug was developed in 1997 during the crisis assistance offered for the survivors of Hurricane Paulina in Acapulco Mexico . For the creation and development of this technique, Lucina Artigas was honored in 2000, by the EMDR International Association, with the Creative Innovation Award.

The Butterfly Hug consists of crossing your arms over your chest, so that the tip of your fingers from each hand is touching the area that is located under the connection between the clavicle and the shoulder. For photo of this position, click on www.Amamecrisis.com.mx

Vigorously tap your body in this self-hugging hand position, simulating the flapping wings of a butterfly. At the same time, repeatedly and energetically state the feeling word you are experiencing. The eyes can be closed, partially or completely, or kept open, looking toward the tip of your nose.

Breathe slowly and deeply, while observing what is going through your mind and body, without changing, repressing or judging. It is also possible to do the Butterfly Hug without saying anything, either gently or vigorously.

This exercise should be done for as long as the person wishes to continue.

Anytime a strong feeling comes up between sessions, you can use the Butterfly Hug and it will soothe your feelings and reduce the negative charge you may be experiencing in the moment.
